Coachella 2016 / Weekend 1, April 15-17
Aerialists, fire dancers, live painters, and other-worldly performers… all of these artists join the talented musicians that have been carefully curated to create the famous Do LaB stage party we all adore. We had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with the Big Fish itself. (Speaking of which, we were informed that the Big Fish will be getting some renovation/innovation work done for Coachella 2017!)
The surprise guests for Weekend 1 were What So Not! (Friday @ 11:45pm), the Glitch Mob (Saturday @ 11:45pm), Rufus Du Sol (Sunday @ 5:45pm), and Bob Moses (Sunday @ 10:45pm)! These additional acts really rounded out the original line up perfectly and had the Do LaB packed with festival goers all Coachella long. If you have never experienced the Do LaB stage before, you are missing out; it is a colorful tent filled with even more colorful people. They have misters, water guns, bubble machines and lights; they have a boat as a treehouse to contain the VJs and lighting crew; this stage seems like it came out from a fantasy party dream. Each place you look, something is happening.
Some of the sets we caught here were Jaykode, Pantyraid, the Glitch Mob, and Rufus Du Sol! Although each artist’s style of music may have varied, they made sure to get everyone dancing. We saw live performances by singers, guitarists, and emcees. Each set was truly unique. My personal favorite set that I saw at the Do LaB was Ghastly, he had me moving throughout his whole set. (Check out his set on soundcloud…)
A HUGE thank you to the Do LaB team! Thank you for being extremely hospitable. Terrific job with Weekend 1, we can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
